This is the first part to Kegan's travels spanning the last weekend in June into the first week in July. It was such a great trip to Wharton, Pasadena, and Plano that I do not have the time to get it all in on one post - things to do and Kegan only naps for so long. All to say - below are the exciting stories and adventures in Whatron and Pasadena. Soon to come...especially because the longer I wait the more behind I get...our time in Plano.
Friday, Kegan and I drove up to the farm to pick up Matthew so he could drive us to Victoria where we were supposed to meet up with my Grandma, Pappa, and Mom. Before we could get on the road, though, Kegan had to go on one more ride in the combine. We just could not drive out there, see the combine, and the just leave with out a ride...so after a short round in the combine, off the three of us headed. We met up with my family and after a good meal and some time visiting, Kegan and I headed to Wharton to with grandparents and mom and Matthew headed back south.
Kegan went to bed pretty soon after we got into Wharton that evening so at 6:30 the next morning (Saturday, no less) he was wide awake and ready to get up. Not a problem at this house - Pappa up at 4:30 and Grandma up by 5:30...so I let him out of the room to go to the living room, while I got dressed. Grandma told me Kegan walked right passed her, said, "Pappa" and climbed right up into his lap - his favorite sitting spot for the rest of the visit. He loved crawling up in that chair with Pappa.
(One of the many times Kegan relaxed with Pappa in the recliner)
Around mid-morning my cousin Lynne, and one of her children, Miss Julianne, came over to play and visit, as well as my Aunt Betsy. Kegan loved having Julianne there to play with and kiss...haha...he would give her the sweetest little kisses on the cheek.
Kegan and Julianne sitting on the couch.
A little time to play outside. Now...what can I do here?
I like Julianne's idea...I think I will climb, too.
After many attempts at climbing on and around the bird feeder stand we switched out play time to the front, where Kegan discovered an old tricycle in the garage. I remember playing with this when I was little...just to give a glimpse at how old it is. His feet almost touched both petals, but his legs are still just a little too short. If you look closely at his shorts, you can see some of the dust that he got all over himself - he had fun, though!
Saturday was a nice day - just relaxing and Kegan getting to play. Now you would think after a day full of play little man would sleep a bit later Sunday morning, but NO...I guess he decided 6:30 was not nearly early enough in the house, so he got up...and got me up...at 6:04.
I did not look so cute that morning...he sure does, though!
After spending some more time with Grandma and Pappa, Mom, Kegan and I headed out to Pasadena after lunch - hoping Kegan would sleep because it was nap time.
When we got to Pasadena we got to see Meme and My uncle Glenn and Aunt Cathey who had been there visiting Meme for the weekend, and my Uncle Daddy and Aunt Melba who came over for a short visit after we arrived. He always enjoys the attention he gets from them all. The one kid in a room full of doting adults - who wouldn't be happy about that! Kegan's favorite thing, still, at Meme's house, is her singing and moving clock.
This is a still photo of Kegan's excitement about the clock as Grams holds him up to see it.
An even better way to view his excitement - watch it unfold before you in video.
Monday morning we woke up rearing to go...turning his version of summer-saults he was so excited for the new day.
That afternoon for lunch we went and had seafood - YUMMY with my Meme and Uncle Danny. After the meal we were sitting around visiting and Uncle Danny pulled out a dollar and gave it to Kegan. He kept wanting to put it in his pockets and then take it out, put it in, and take it out...he did not want to share that dollar with anyone, though!
So proud to be so rich...haha...
After lunch Grams, Kegan and I headed north to Plano...and part 2 of our travels.
We had a great time visiting with Kegan's great-grandparents. How blessed he is to be able to make some memories with them!
