Weekend Update

With the rain still falling Kegan and I spent a lot of Friday and Saturday in doors...but we did manage to get out for a few things when the rain subsided a little.

Friday afternoon Kegan and I went to have lunch with Matthew. While we were headed home Matthew called and asked if we could go and pick him up some parts for one of his tractors, so Kegan and I set off to Taft. Once we were there, we went inside and found Kegan's Grandpa. Needless to say, I did not hold Kegan anymore for the duration of our visit to the store. Mr. Setliff walked all around the store holding Kegan and showing him off to everyone - I don't know who was more happy and entertained...Kegan or Kegan's Grandpa. Below is a picture of Kegan hanging out with his Grandpa in Grandpa's office.

Saturday morning was nice, so we took the opportunity to get out of the house and went strolling for a while - Kegan loves being outside! It did cloud up and begin to rain again, so we spent most of the late morning and afternoon inside just playing around and me taking way too many pictures. (You know when a child has had too many pictures taken when you are trying to get a candid shot, but every time he sees the flash going off...he turns and looks at the camera.)
Here I was trying to catch him eating a puff with his fingers, but as long as I was taking pictures he was not too concerned about getting that little puff to his mouth - see he even has his mouth open and hand up, with the food in it...but the camera was going off so he turned and looked. Silly boy!
This next picture I just think is so cute of his little chubby cheeks and big, beautiful eyes (that still have not seemed to choose a color). There is still a little sweet potato and chicken left on his mouth and chin - yummy!
After lunch we went into Kegan's room to play some. Here is is chewing - he chews on everything - his second tooth is starting to push through so everything goes straight to the gums. We also listened to one of his baby music CDs...he laughs at his mommy following along with the motions to the songs. It is so much fun to play with him. He will just start giggling. His whole body gets into the glee when he starts laughing (jumping and laughing and squinching up his face - too cute! I can not wait till he starts attempting the motions - video video video!!!
Have you ever seen such determination to chew.
Reach for the toy...reach for it...and pull...
Whoops!...pull too hard and it all comes crashing down.
I mentioned we have a second tooth starting to bud. Here is the best picture I could get of his gums. He was not happy to let mommy take this. The more I tried to get the picture, the more he tried to hide his tooth. You can see the one he has, really well. However, the picture is too blurry to see the new one trying to push through.
Is there anything better to do than watch the rainfall? Just one thing - watching the rain fall outside surrounded by all your favorite toys! He enjoyed the rain and every time it would thunder he would make his mouth in the shape of an "O" and start looking all around the room.
That evening we all had dinner with the Setliff's and took Kegan to his first Baseball game. I forgot my camera (can you imagine) so we stopped and picked up a disposable one (all the pictures were used up that night...ha!). I will have to get them put on a CD and I will then post them - they are going to be too cute to not put up!
We went to eat at the Crazy Cajun - Kegan gnawed on a corn cob (all the corn was off) and loved it. I guess it was a good texture on his gums...with a hint of spice and flavor. After eating we all headed to the ballpark. Kegan was entertained by everything and everyone. He just looked and looked around at all the lights and people. He did really good and cried twice - once at a man who talked to him (the poor man felt so bad) and a second time when the Hook (our team) had a great play and there was lots of loud music and cheering. Otherwise he stayed awake the whole time just enjoying himself. His grandpa also bought him a Popsicle. Kegan was red all over...but very happy.
Sunday we went to church and to eat. He spent the afternoon with his grandparents while Matthew and I got some stuff done around the house, before Matthew has to start back to harvest. His grandma told me Kegan swang a little, played a little, slept some, and ate A LOT!
He had a good weekend and we are looking forward to the rest of this week - tomorrow we go to our first swim lesson. It should be fun!

First Harvest

This past weekend Matthew started to harvest his grain, so Kegan went out on Friday and got to be apart of his first...I am sure of many...harvest. He was so fascinated with everything going on and just looked around at the tractors, the combine (the tractor that is used to harvest the grain), and he loved looking at all the stalks of grain...especially the ones that had been cut.

Kegan and his daddy are up...way way up...on the combine and ready to go!
Daddy and Kegan sitting in the cab.
Who's ready to drive? Kegan loved looking out the big windows, down on all the grain. He kept squealing, flapping his arms, and bouncing up and down. I think this is a sweet picture - one day I am sure we will have a picture of him "really" driving a combine...I wonder if he will have the same look of awe and excitement!?!
Kegan with his mommy and daddy standing in front of the combine...Kegan is too busy looking around to worry about the camera! (ha)

That night we also drove around with the Setliff's and looked at Matthew's cotton.
I like his expression here - "Mom. Dad. Do you see me? Grandpa is letting me drive!" (Kegan loved standing at the steering wheel and holding on to it and playing. He did learn...well by mere accident really...how to honk the horn.

Father and son looking at a cotton plant in one of Matthew's fields. Kegan enjoyed yanking on the leaves and trying to tear them off ! :)

Below are a few (out of 103) of the pictures from Kegan and Karsyn's last photo session, from while we were in Galveston.
You will notice both of their outfit changes matched. Personally, I think it is too cute...but I know in about 13 or so years...Kegan will probably not be agreeing with me...haha...oh well...for now they look like 2 adorable cousins!
For those of you who have not seen Kegan...or have not seen him in a while...this is one of Kegan's many facial expressions he makes when he is laughing - he scrunches up his nose and smiles - I love it!!
I'm ready for my close up!
Cousin Karsyn - Isn't she beautiful. Gorgeous eyes!!!
Profile shot. He looks like such a little boy here - and not a baby anymore...tear...
We all (mom, Wendy, and I) loved this one of Karsyn - so sweet!
Here are the posed "beach pictures" - notice the difference between these and the "real beach pictures" - no sand in the mouth!

Galveston

Warning: There are a lot of pictures( 30 or so)...but not really that many, if you think that I had to narrow it down from 200...needless to say...I took a lot of pictures - it was a great week!

Wednesday morning Kegan and I flew into Houston where my mom, dad, and Karsyn, picked us up (no plane issues this time - yea!!!). Then we headed to the beach house in Galveston. As you can see below Kegan was welcomed with lots of joy from Meme and Poppa. (Kegan and Meme are talking about something here...I think he is laughing at her and she is going..."hey kid!"...haha)
It did not take us long and we headed for the beach. Here Kegan is being pushed by his older cousin, Katy - she loved pushing the babies in their strollers.

Take a quick look - this is the cleanest you will see Kegan on the beach - he LOVES the sand...as you will soon find out!

He loved it so much...he ate some (and will continue to through-out the week - pictures to follow)...then he needed some water. I guess it was a bit dry and gritty! I can't believe he can somewhat successfully drink from a cup..where has my little baby gone???

After a day in the sand, everyone needs a good bath. Wendy and I have decided that Kegan and Karsyn will hate these pictures when they get older...but for now...how cute are they!!! (look how well they are sharing those toys)

Thursday morning we all got up and dressed and played around the house some. The poor family had to step around all the toys and blankets we had layed out for the babies to play on. They were all so great about it.
Karsyn has started crawing...sooo...at times, I think Kegan was just in the way! If something is in the way...then just crawl over it. I love Kegan's face in the pictures...it is almost like he is saying, "Hey! What is going on back there? What are you doing?" To which I guess he showed his disapproval by letting out a stinky, because right after this picture was taken Karsyn raised up one of her hands and waved it under her nose like there was something smelly below her. We all started laughing!!!
Later, Thursday afternoon, Kegan and I headed downstairs and swam a little in his blowup pool with Katy. He still loves the water - he can't even take his eyes off of it long enough to look at the camera.

Nothing better than coming in from a swim and relaxing on the couch some - especially when you are being entertained by your Great Uncle Glenn and Great Aunt Cathy.

Next stop for entertaining fun - flying like an airplane over his Great Uncle Danny's head. Kegan was giggling and laughing the entire time - he loved it.

After all that playing, it was time to start winding down. Both grand kids and Grams and Grandpa took in some time together on the porch. Kegan loved watching all the birds fly by!

Time to go in - way to go Grandpa - both grand kids at once...trust me, that is a load!!! Look at Kegan's hand on Grandpa's face - I think it looks sweet...like he is patting him on the cheek.

Bath time, again! Look at those buns!

Friday, Grams, Kegan, Karsyn, and I met Wendy at a portrait studio (about 30 minutes or so outside of Galveston) and had pictures taken of the kids - soooo cute (of course) despite Kegan being very fussy and NOT in the mood to smile. I will download those pictures later and you will see that the photographer did capture some smile and we got some VERY cute pictures!!!
After a morning of pictures, we came back to the beach. It was low tide, and the water was pretty calm, so we were able to set the babies out in the water. They both enjoyed the sand and waves. Kegan does have in his, what Wendy called, his sand plug. If that was not in his mouth, it was a handful of sand. I think this is the only time, all week, that Karsyn was a little bit more dirty than Kegan.
Such an inquisitive face!

Friday night, we took pictures of all the great grand kids...
then of all the great grand kids with Meme and Poppa.

Friday night Kegan went to his first bonfire on the beach. As you can tell he enjoyed himself!

Matthew got in Friday night, so first thing Saturday morning we all headed out to the beach again...and of course if you are going to the beach with little ones, you need to be sure to lather them up in sunscreeen - scalp included. Who knew sunscreen could act as a great hair gel. This is one of my favorite pictures of Kegan...they hair...the face...all too cute!

We took Kegan out into the waves. Grandpa was fishing in the distance and as you can see...he caught a fish.
Kegan is inspecting the fish here - I am sure if felt very slimy and different than anything he has ever touched before. He liked it though - yea - he can be a fishing buddy with his Grandpa! We had to be careful with his hands though - they would go straight to his mouth after touching the fish - probably not the cleanest thing for him to do!

After spending a while in the water we went back to chill in the sand for a while. Matthew buried Kegan's feet in the sand. Kegan did not seem to mind at all - the more dirt the better! (Notice the sand plug is in.)
The sand plug is out, and look where that dirty hand goes!

Ohhh - my dirty little boy - just reclining in the sand recliner his daddy made him.

As playtime progressed, so did the amount of sand in Kegan's mouth. Karsyn has Kegan's sand plug, since he obviously has not desire to use it. Notice - she is clean and sitting nicely and he is....

dirty...dirty...dirty! Such a little boy - happiest when covered in dirt!

After a long play at the beach the babies got very hungry. Man - what a life. Both babies sitting back in their recliners drinking their bottles. Could they look more relaxed?

Saturday night we all took a walk on the beach for our last night there. Kegan enjoyed his ride on Uncle Danny's shoulders. Although, I think Uncle Danny is now missing patches of hair where Kegan was grabbing on.

We headed home Sunday, after cleaning up, packing up, and once last meal of seafood. On the way home we stopped by Granddad's and Madaline's for a while so they could see Kegan. Grandad had Kegan giggling a kit of the time there!

Then we stopped again, a little further down the road to see Grandma and Pappa. I think this is such a sweet picture of Kegan and Grandma. He loved the musical toy she was holding.

Pappa even had a chance to entertain Kegan!

It was a great trip...and our last one for a little while at least. Maybe I can finally start trying to unspoil him...hehe!
