Spoiled Spoiled Spoiled

Kegan has been with grandparents, great grandparents, and aunts and uncles for the past two weeks and he is most definitely a spoiled little boy now - to which mommy and daddy are quickly trying to reverse. We LOVE him to pieces but this spoiled behavior - cry cry cry when he does not get his way - ohhh!!!! (hehe) In all actuality, the past 2 weeks have been great from Kegan. He has been loved by so many people in his family.

The pictures below are from the Sunday right before the 2 weeks of spoiling began. The first 2 were taken before church that morning. He was in such a happy and playful mood!!! (Look at how well he is sitting now. It is crazy the difference one week can make!)

(I promise he has on diapers - you just can't see them. Trust me - he would not be with out a diaper on!)

These next set of pictures were taken Sunday afternoon. Kegan had spit up on himself and I had taken him into the bathroom sink to do a quick rinse down. Well, he was enjoying kicking his feet in the water so much that I was letting him play for a bit and in the process of that he scooted himself into the sink...diaper and all! It was like a small pool to him - he loved it.

(I think the picture below is so cool looking - there are two of him!)

(He is just a little bit vain - enjoying looking at himself in the mirror.)

My mom came in to town Monday,May 21th (to help me move all my stuff out of my classroom - it is official - I am at home with Kegan for good) and my dad and Meme and Poppa joined us Friday, May 25th. They all stayed till Monday morning. It was great to see all of them and watch them interact with Kegan. He loves his Grams and Grandpa and Meme and Poppa! On Saturday afternoon, we had everyone over - all the family (Gail's parents and grandparents, Matthew's parents, Uncle Kyle and Aunt Lindsay, and Uncle Josh and Aunt Stephani) for a fajita dinner. Kegan was, of course, the center of attention. Sunday was church and Monday, which came all too soon, my family left - but not with out some great pictures taken, first!!!! (see below)

Pizza - Kegan gets his first taste of pizza crust and he seemed to like it!

Grams and I took Kegan for a walk. Notice - he no longer needs his car seat in the stroller - he can sit in it like a big boy!

Meme and Poppa arrive with my dad. Meme immediately took Mr. Kegan, sat down, and started giving him tons of hugs and kisses...Poppa had to shake Kegan's hand till he got his turn to hold him!

Poppa and Kegan are talking and playing.

Hello Grandpa!!!

Saturday Kegan got to see his Aunt Lindsay and Uncle Kyle whom he has not seen since January. Aunt Lindsay was very excited - to say the least...Uncle Kyle, too!

Poppa taking care of Kegan - feeding and burping.

Monday morning Grams, Grandpa, and Meme and Poppa had to leave (sad)...but family time was not over yet - we got packed up and headed to the Frio River to spend the week with Grandma and Grandpa (Setliff), Uncle Josh and Aunt Stephani, Uncle Kyle (Aunt Lindsay had to work) and a couple who had been friends with the Setliff's for a long time - all in all - lots of hands to hold Mr. Kegan...for yet another week...hehe...spoil spoil spoil....

Packing up and getting ready to go!

We made it to the river and decided to walk down and take a look. Kegan loved looking at the water. (You will see in picture later - we defiantly have a little boy who loves the water!!!)

Notice his eyes in this picture - do you see what he is looking at, as he rest his feet on the front bar of his stroller??? His face may be turned away from the water...but his eyes are still checking it out!

Finally, his little toes get to touch the water!

As other people were off floating, Kegan got to go play in his little pool! He LOVED it! He splashed...all over Matthew and I..., laughed, and played for quite a while...both days he got to play in the pool.
(He was wanting that green toy, that you see floating away, closer to him.)
Mommy and Kegan playing with the pool toys.

Squeals of excitement!!!

Aunt Stephani joins the pool side fun on day 2!

Kegan LOVES it when his daddy blows raspberries on his belly - it get him just to laughing and squealing...and oh, the biggest smiles he has in him!!!

On the last full day we were there, Matthew and I took Kegan down to the river, to sit and enjoy it...and he did!
He started by sitting with his daddy...

...and ended with him sitting and enjoying the water in his bumpo. It was great...the water was just deep enough to flow through the bumpo, so he could feel it, and reach down and touch it with his hands!

Is this not one of the most irresistibly cute little faces you have every seen!?!

When you play this hard every day, you have to certainly take a good bath every night...in this case...in the kitchen sink!

These last 2 pictures were taken at a John Deere store on the way home. He is already ready to help his daddy out on the farm!

6 months old and A LOT to catch up on!!!

Kegan is now 6 months old! I can't believe it - 1/2 a year. It does not seem like it has been that long - not nearly that long!!! What an exciting 6 months it has been, though!!!

Matthew took Kegan to his 6 month wellness visit (I was at work) and said that the doctor said Kegan was looking good and right on track...and vary mobile for his age. Hmm...is this a prediction of things to come! :) Kegan weighs around 16 pounds 8 ounces (20th percentile) and is 27 1/2 inches long (80th percentile). Basically he is long and skinny...hmm...we are still thinking he got that from 2 of his great grandfathers - certainly not his mom and dad! Matthew let the doctor know he was rolling, holding his own bottle, moving toys from hand to hand, sitting up for little bits at a time, and just that morning of the visit had been able to lift himself to a seating position from a reclined at an incline position. Kegan has been trying different vegetables (pictures to follow) and the doctor said we can now start him on baby meats - yummy! (Those jars always look so nasty at the store!) Kegan also got more shots - poor baby! All-in-all, the visit went VERY well!!!

OK, the rest of this is going to be quick comments with pictures. I have not had a chance to update in such a long time (when he is growing and changing this fast 2 weeks is a long time) and a lot has happened. Enjoy! :)

Sunday 5-6-07
Daddy taking good care of Kegan!!

Mommy decides to take over and we go into Kegan's room to play. If you don't remember this is the same puppy dog "rug" I laid Kegan on a month or so ago - look at how much he has grown!!

Look how strong - holding himself up above the puppy's head. "Do you see me mom? Do you see me??"

Monday 5-7-07
Kegan tried carrots. As you can see, the first attempt for carrots was VERY messy. He did seem to like them more than the green beans, though. I love this picture - his facial expression and the carrots ALL OVER his face - priceless! (I learned carrots - they stain - everything - including his little cheeks!)

Wednesday 5-9-07
We all went out to eat for Mrs. Setliff's birthday. Below you see Matthew feeding Kegan sweet potato fries. (They were caught, but obviously Kegan did not seem to care)At least Kegan seems like sweet potato, so when we officially try those it should go well!

Thursday 5-10-07
I just loved this outfit on Kegan (on loan from his friend August). He looks like he is ready to go and explore nature!

These next two are from his bath time. You can see he is starting to sit up and loves sitting in the water and playing with his toys!

Saturday 5-12-07
Matthew and Kegan too me out to make a memory for my first Mother's Day. We took Kegan for his first trip to the beach! He was mesmerized by the water. Just stared and stared at it, as you will see below! It was great. I can't wait to take him back!
(He would not turn away from the water, even when we tried to face him in a different direction.)

The first time Kegan experienced the feeling of sand under his feet and between his toes.)

At home, after returning from the beach and a Cajun seafood dinner(for the parents) and soy and rice cereal (for Kegan).
A total cheese for the camera?!?!

Sunday 5-13-07 Mother's Day
It was dedication Sunday at church, so Kegan got to join us in church for a little while. He did wonderful. No fussing or anything!!! We committed to raise him in a godly home and then Kegan received a New Testament Bible and a letter he is supposed to open on his 18th birthday (which I am sure will come all to quickly) to tell him what went on this day!

Here are a few more pictures of me and Kegan - the little man who made Mother's Day possible for me to celebrate!

I love this one of us - cheek to cheek!!!

Monday 0 5-14-07
Kegan is working on his sitting. It is getting better. He can sit for longer periods and has started catching himself - sometimes - if he leans to one side or the other. Kegan will also reach out for toys we hold up in front of him, while he is seated. Way to go strong man!!! (In this picture he is just sitting and studying a burp cloth.)

These next two are Kegan's opinion of having to eat peas...although he did better with these than green beans, he still got his fill of peas rather quickly!

He is growing up so fast, I can not wait till this week is over - my last week of school - then I get to stay home with him! Oh, what a joy!!!!

A Growing Boy!

Lots of pictures to share from this week!

We have been working more on Kegan eating and he still is not really to interested in being fed with a spoon. You show him a bottle and he will reach out and take it - you put a spoon to his mouth and he may open it the first few times (which there has to be LOTS of cheering and clapping and mommy acting silly, to get him to not gag on these bites) but - pretty soon, I just get lips that are shut tight. Literally - his mouth will be open and he will be smiling but as soon as the spoon gets close to his lips they close tight. He even spit some back at me the other night! We will be trying a new vegetable this week, so hopefully he will like peas better than green beans. (I know - gross Gail, why start him with those??? Well, if I start him on sweet stuff then I CERTAINLY will never get the veggies down him.) After this week of peas, we will go to a sweeter veggie - like carrots or squash - both I have heard are baby favorites! We shall see - Kegan seems a bit picky...haha!

After a green bean dinner - off to take a bath and some adorable towel pictures. Kegan started sitting for at least a few seconds on Wednesday night, so we were clicking away with the camera trying to catch some shots. He did pretty good on his changing table, because the sides helped to give him some extra support. We are still working on sitting, but he is getting closer to sitting by himself for more than a few seconds. Way to go KEGAN!!

This next picture was taken the same night. Matthew and I were just having fun playing with Kegan and he was in a great mood. I LOVE his smile in this picture!

Kegan LOVES bath time now days. He sits in there and will play with toys (and wash clothes) and kick and kick and just laugh and grin. It is so much fun to watch him! This is a picture of him chewing on his washcloth. I like his face, it is saying, "Opps...I was caught!"

These next 2 pictures are to show you how much he has grown. The first picture was taken some time when he was around 2-3 months old. The second picture is from last night (Friday, teh 4th) He used to be able to stretch his legs out and still not reach from top to bottom. Now his head is at the top and his legs have to bend to fit in the sling. Notice, however, his width has not changed much. He definitely has his daddy's metabolism.

This morning while I was getting ready I put Kegan in his swing and he started grabbing at the fish hanging down, that make the music start. He would pull on one and just start laughing. Then he would let them go, hit them and squeal with glee! Then he started grabbing on to both of them, pull one...then the other.... It is so fun to see him discover new parts of his toys and enjoy them all over again, like they were brand new. Look at the intensity in his face as he is studying the fish hanging down. (Already trying to catch and analyze fish like his Grandpa!)

Finally, these pictures were taken tonight after we got back from a wild game tasting thing with the Christian Sportsman Fellowship group from our church. (It was fun - interesting food - but fun. Kegan just stuck to his regular - soy formula with a little rice - yummy!) Kegan was enjoying wearing his daddy's hats! Then, once we got started, we decided we needed to take more with some different hats. Kegan just laughed and smiled through it all. Enjoy - he is a cutie in these!!!
